This past Wednesday at youth we had a worship night. No preaching, no game, nothing except for pure worship to the Creator of the Universe. It was something we hadn't done in years and it was amazing!
When we think of worship, we normally think of songs and singing, but we all know that that is only one form of worship. Worship comes in many different forms and it doesn't matter which form you choose, God is nonetheless worthy of our worship. Not because of what He has done, but strictly for the fact that He is God.
God is worthy of our worship. How many times have we said that? Dozens? Hundreds? Thousands? We say it so casually that it has very little meaning to us. But stop and think about that. God doesn't deserve your worship because of anything that He has done. Blessings, riches, grace, salvation, sanctification, these are all great things, but God doesn't deserve your worship because of them. He deserves it just because He's God!
Do we grasp that? Do we really understand that? I was talking with Kendra on the way home from youth on Wednesday and I said "even if God hated us and treated us like trash, He would still be worthy of our worship." Think about it, would you worship God if He didn't love you? Would you worship Him if He didn't bless you? If Jesus didn't die for you? Would you still worship Him just for the plain fact that He is God? Let's be honest, we probably wouldn't worship Him if He wasn't good to us. But face it, He is nonetheless worthy!
So may you find that God is worthy of your worship, not for what He has done, but for who He is. May you find that even when life sucks that God still deserve your worship.
